Influence of electronic correlations on the frequency-dependent hopping transport in Si:P

چکیده
At low energy scales charge transport in the insulating Si:P is dominated by activated hopping between the localized donor electron states. Thus, theoretical models for a disordered system with electron-electron interaction are appropriate to interpret the electric conductivity spectra. With a newly developed technique we have measured the complex broadband microwave conductivity of Si:P from 100 MHz to 5 GHz in a broad range of phosphorus concentration n/nc from 0.56 to 0.95 relative to the critical value nc = 3.5 × 10 cm corresponding to the metal-insulator transition driven by doping. At our base temperature of T = 1.1 K the samples are in the zero-phonon regime where they show a super-linear frequency dependence of the conductivity indicating the influence of the Coulomb gap in the density of the impurity states. At higher doping n → nc, an abrupt drop in the conductivity power law σ1(ω) ∼ ω is observed. The dielectric function ε1 increases upon doping following a power law in (1 − n/nc). Dynamic response at elevated temperatures has also been investigated.

Electronic Transmission Wave Function of Disordered Graphene by Direct Method and Green's Function Method
We describe how to obtain electronic transport properties of disordered graphene, including the tight binding model and nearest neighbor hopping. We present a new method for computing, electronic transport wave function and Greens function of the disordered Graphene. In this method, based on the small rectangular approximation, break up the potential barriers in to small parts. Then using the f...

The ultimate nanoscale conductor is reached perhaps at the single long-molecule level. For example, the prototypical biological molecule of DNA, has been proposed as a natural conductor with many ideal properties: It is naturally occurring as well as easily synthesized, it is prone to " self-assembly " and useful to create desired " scaffolding " at the nanometer scale, and it may allow electro...
متن کاملThermally driven hopping and electron transport in amorphous materials from density functional calculations
In this paper we study electron dynamics and transport in models of amorphous silicon and amorphous silicon hydride. By integrating the time-dependent Kohn–Sham equation, we compute the time evolution of electron states near the gap, and study the spatial and spectral diffusion of these states due to lattice motion. We perform these calculations with a view to developing ab initio hopping trans...
متن کاملDetermination of the hopping contribution to the thermopower in bismuth infiltrated colloidal crystals
Conductivity and thermopower measurements of artificial three dimensional bismuth crystals are presented. Due to the size dependent band gap of bismuth, electron transport in the bismuth crystals is a combination of both metallic and hopping conduction. The conductivity and thermopower due to the hopping pathways alone can be extracted through a comparison of the properties of the artificial bi...
